About
Capital Strategy from an Operator's Perspective
How you structure your capital can be as important as where you invest it.
Why Life Design Capital
Most people meet life insurance as a product to buy. Business owners and real estate investors usually meet capital as something to deploy — and they feel the friction of banks, lenders and timing every time an opportunity appears.
Life Design Capital starts from that second perspective. We look at how your capital is structured: what's protected, what's liquid, what's working, and what will pass to the next generation. Properly designed, high-cash-value whole life insurance can be one layer of that structure — a reserve you control. It is never the whole plan.

Robert Knight is the founder of Life Design Capital and a Southwest Florida business owner, real estate investor and developer. His work has centered on deploying capital: evaluating opportunities, structuring projects, and carrying them from site selection and entitlements through financing and development.
That experience taught him the idea at the center of Life Design Capital: how capital is structured can matter as much as where it's invested. Good opportunities rarely arrive on a lender's timetable, and the people who can act with confidence are usually the ones who control their own liquidity.
Robert brings that operator's perspective to capital strategy. He is a licensed life insurance agent in Florida (License #A143654) and a REALTOR®, and he works alongside each client's CPA, attorney and other professionals so that any insurance-based strategy fits within a broader plan rather than replacing it.
When he isn't working, you'll often find him on the water, fishing the flats of Southwest Florida.
How we work
- Education first. You should understand the mechanics, costs and trade-offs before anything is recommended.
- Design over product. Funding, riders and carrier selection matter more than labels.
- Coordinated with your advisors. We work alongside your CPA, attorney and other professionals.
- Ongoing. Strategies are reviewed as your goals and opportunities change.
Educational overview only. Whether a strategy is suitable — and how it should be designed — depends on your circumstances, health and underwriting, the carrier and product, and funding. Policy values, liquidity, costs and tax treatment vary; dividends are not guaranteed. Disclosures.
